Yes, George needed to get a Florida government job (city, county or state) for another three months +/- to get his full pension from the Florida state pension fund.
His ill fated attempt at getting elected failed big so he wrangled his way back as County Admin. after he talked Gene and Wilson into getting Oliver fired.
He was already vested in the county pension fund.
He is now fully vested in the state pension fund and does not need one more day.
It will go like this………………
The BOCC will find reasons to extend his employe as long as GT desires to work.
Heck, competing for a contract is just a formality when you can get your contract renewed indefinitely, right?
Remember that when GT was hired back, Gene himself was quoted as saying it was only a temporary thing. He just did not define what he meant by temporary.

During this time he will be allowed to carry out any vendettas he desires. Also firing county employees for no reason, hiring his pals or BOCC pals for no apparent need.
Along with being allowed to spend taxpayer dollars where ever he desires i.e. more county contracts with taxdollars being spent on frivolous things and charities that only exist on paper.
Shell companies such as the three owned by Touart along with other shell companies owned by his pals will miraculously be award millions of BP oil spill RESTORE Act funds.
Won’t matter that those companies will have never done such projects ever before.
They will get the contracts with low qualifications, low bids and then have cost over-runs swiftly approved when ever demanded.

It appears that many people don’t like their elected officials. Did you vote? Do you go to any meetings and complain or make your wishes known? If not, then you have no reason to complain because you are the ones who let them do as they please.

this is the reason why the city of Detroit has went bankrupt, by paying for years and years these so called “men of the people” for their “service” to the folks of Escambia county ,…….I’ll say it again if you are paid more from the public sector for the same job in the private sector then it is not “service for the people” ,……..its robbery……..thanks to Grover and Steven for their common sense in the matter its time to get rid of those pushing for this crook to continue to steal from the people of this county ,….whatta say there Gino or Wilson………

This just was a move to stall for time to let old George get his retirement. He has said all along his just wanted to get vested in the Fl retirement system and this will let him make it. We all think they did a good job stopping Gene and Wilson but really they got what they wanted. Now that it will take till November, he will have been on the job long enough to be vested.

The joke is on us and we fell for it. WAKE UP!!

I’m wondering why we the tax payers are having to pay $20,000 for an outside firm to find qualified applicants….Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t that one of the job requirements of the HR Department….When the HR Department narrows the list down(which has already been done) then all the information is reviewed and if any of them have any special ties to anyone that would benefit them then they are not offered the position….how hard can this be? The whole Escambia County Government is corrupt and has been for some time, we might as well have our current President on the County Commission….By the way, I did not vote for the current President or the current County Commission.

Bewildered: If you remember when the issue of Touart coming back was voted on it was a 3 for and 2 against vote. So not ALL of the commissioners currently seated voted to bring him back.
