@Dr.Johanson. While Bill may be doing a super job some times– it’s not an all timer. I had occasion to talk with Bill one day. The information put out to the public was that any problems were to be handled by the mayor office. The mayor was out (so what’s new) and I was transferred to Bill. His attitude was at best poor. Maybe it would help if he recalled one of the first things Marines are taught was respect and honor. I know this was taught due to being a former Marine. I have heard people refer to the logo as a “fetus surfing” and after looking at it a few times I think they are right.

Dr. Trey….no question there are outstanding public servants on the staff of ALL areas of Pensacola government and especially those out in the field who actually get their hands dirty doing good work.
Question is, why is there a want to remove the “City of 5 Flags” monument and the flags from the north end of the Bay Bridge?
The replacement for that is to be some goofy looking thing saying, “Pensacola the Upside of Florida” with that ying-yang looking logo. “Upside”, what does that mean?
Maybe enhance income to the city by turning the Technology Park back into a parking lot for downtown events.

That symbol, compared to the five flags of history, is indeed the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Let the pin heads come out from behind their particle board desks and read their history books before they start carting away our history!

Bill and the Mayor’s staff are great people than love Pensacola and do a great job promoting this fine city. Since 2010, Mayor Hayward has done a great job promoting business and requesting businesses to move here. I think this is a paper mix and someone not being clear in emails. This is something that happens in government offices and even small business. With all of the government corruption on a federal and state levels, this is tiny compared to other things that go on in the world.

The mayor of Pensacola and several business cronies have a mastermind plan for what they have stamped the “Upside of Florida” which makes absolutely no sense at all. They are working toward taking away the “City of Five Flags” symbols which speak to the history of our entire area and replacing it with the ridiculous circular symbol seen at the front of this article….what does that say about history or the area, nothing at all just something dreamed up by an out of town ad agency.
Want to push the ecotourism industry and bring people into the Escambia County area both north and south then push the heritage and the historical areas and revitalize the downtown historical arena.
Enough of the cute “re-branding” of our community, renaming the Civic Center is silly and the use of “Pensacola International Airport” is an outright and deliberate misrepresentation to commuters. Mayor, A.H. an average citizen flying on a commercial aircraft cannot make a non-stop flight outside the USA from Pensacola Regional Airport and it is just wrong to advertise it that way.
We have amazing history in this area, invest in that and not some goofy new logos.
