No need for a rear end crash to have a fire. The crash was head on. If both vehicles were traveling at 65-70 mph the crash would have been the same as hitting a solid object at over a 100 mph. While it’s true Jeep does not want to do a recall it should not have a bearing on this wreck. It does happen that people get on to the interstates and go the wrong way. Some times due to driver confusion or alcohol/drugs is the reason. If the driver is lucky he gets stopped before having a wreck.

The news articles I have seen were saying they catch fire on rear impact due to the gas tank…but in the past month I have seen several wrecks involving Jeeps that were not rear impacts, that still caught fire…SCARY…:(

I saw a special in Orlando last week on CNN , where the Jeep Cherokee’s were catching fire on impact. They are trying to get Jeep to do a recall , but Jeep said they will not. I can’t remember how many have exploded on impact , but many people have died because of it. This could be why they exploded. Maybe a recall is warranted.
