It's about time. The State executed a man the other day who'd been on DR for 23 years. That's way too long.

It's about TIME....wasting to much of the our tax paying dollars housing these inmates. Looking at the death row inmates, some have been sitting here since the late 1980's!

REGARDING:
"any DNA evidence would have been looked at during the trial or even through appeals, so I think the odds of having someone who is innocent on death row in this day an age, are infinitesimal."

Unless they weren't convicted based on DNA evidence, of course.

Still, justice delayed is justice denied.

I don't know if Texas has a version of the “Timely Justice Act,” but their process seems to work. From my understanding, Texas has the fastest "conviction to execution" ratio in the nation. I agree with Henry Coe - with the technology available - AND UTILIZED - today, the odds of convicting an innocent person are very slim. The State (read - WE, The Taxpayers) spend a fortune prosecuting them AND defending them. Why spend another small fortune supporting them for who knows how long before the death sentence is carried out? Once the appeals process has run its course, theri is no point in delaying the inevitable any longer.

I think we had a bunch of cases that were over turned because DNA evidence was able to shed new light on the innocence of the person on death row, thank God.

But now, when people are prosecuted and sent to death row, any DNA evidence would have been looked at during the trial or even through appeals, so I think the odds of having someone who is innocent on death row in this day an age, are infinitesimal.
