People, get a map of your county.

The roads are, within reason, a spider web. Even in a hurricane evacuation, all the main roads are gridlocked, and the seldom used roads are your avenue of escape. Motorists use the main roads as a force of habit.

Just don't get in front of me

I was southbound on 95 A at the light by CVS and could not turn left onto Kingsfield, due to all the traffic going northbound on 95 A. Guess they didn't feel the need for a turn arrow. Law enforcement should be there with that much traffic being detoured from Hwy 29.

It just amazes me that a major North/South artery closes down in the exact same place every time there is a heavy rain.

Is there nothing that can be engineered that might allow a vehicle to cross this area? If only there was something that could bridge that low-lying area.

I just came South and it was closed at 12:45 and it looks as if it will be for a while. Traffic was backed in both directions.

It was open when we came through at 0915 this morning, but the water was deep and rising. We detoured down Kingsfield to New Chemstrand. I noticed it was still flooded and closed when we came back through about 30 min ago.

Crossing deep water without a snorkel is a good way to suck water into a combustion chamber, which will often result in a destroyed piston.

@Stuck. Another option for you would be to go east on Kingsfield, turn left on Chemstrand, and then turn left on Old Chemstrand. That will put you back on Hwy 29 by the Winn Dixie in Gonzalez.

I haven't been that way today, but you also might be able to just turn on Old Palafox at Kingsfield and bypass the closure. However, Old Palafox might be closed too right next to Pensacola Salvage.

In response to "stuck", I live in Molino too and came from PSC earlier when they just closed the road off. Just take a left on Kingsfield and go do by the road prison to muscogee and you can detour around it.
