I live on Hwy 29, just North of this intersection. I slow down every time I go through there because people turn in front of me and pull out in front of me all the time. Not too far north of that, the speed drops to 55 MPH and many times people blow through Molino at 90-100 MPH on their way to points north of us. The problem is speed and inattention, pure and simple. Slow down and pay attention, and the incidence of accidents will drop. People won’t, though. Too busy and in too much of a hurry to get where they’re going.
This doesn’t even cover the fact that it’s a farming community through that area and sometimes animals get out an on the road as well. If you hit a horse or cow going that fast, you’ll be lucky to survive. The animal certainly won’t.

If your eyes cannot perceive the light reflected or emitted by an oncoming vehicle, how in the world will they ever perceive the light emitted from a red light?

North Escambia will one day be nothing but a string of red lights from I-65 to the gulf.

@me, that was not directed to you. I was making a general statent, every time there is a wreck at an intersection someone (not just you) says put a traffic light there. I have seen several people run red light at 29/Kingsfield and 29/ 10 mile rd when the turn signal turns green, the first in line to go straight (still a red light) take off. Thankfully the people turning in their paths are paying attention, and don’t hit them. There we go again with people NOT paying attention.

And to Paul Alexander, I’m not the one that said I drive 70, that was someone else.

I didn’t say it would cease all wrecks, that’s stupid to assume. I know wrecks happen at traffic signals, but how many more would happend without them? It certainly wouldn’t be any less. A taffic signal would force people to “slow down” and stop people from trying a risky crossover without running a light. And to your one light after the other problem, I’m not saying put one a every intersection. Just the ones with a higher number of wrecks than others. Or when Highways connect, such as Hwy 182 (Molino Rd) and Hwy 97. Where wrecks happens multiple times a year. You have no argument other than “I pay attention so I won’t wreck and a light would slow me down”. Lets see how your opinion would change if you or a member of your family was driving through one of these intersections paying attention and obeying the laws is blindsided by someone who didn’t see the stop sign. Trust me. They would of seen the bright red LED light.

I travel hwy 29 often, and I think that the majority of accidents are happening because drivers frequently speed on 29. I travel at a speed of between 65 and 70mph, and drivers pass me like I’m sitting still……SLOW DOWN people!! Hwy 29 is not a race track, and its not the interstate. And when u come to this intersection SLOWDOWN be cautious or you could be the next of many wrecks here.

I get tired of everytime a wreck happens at an intersection someone comments “they need to install a traffic light”. If that was to happen, Hwy 29 would be one light after another. Traffic lights won’t cut down on the wrecks, people need to slow down and pay attention to their surroundings!! There was an accident at a traffic light yesterday, (Hwy 29 at Morris Ave). It’s not that hard to drive, if you pay attention to what you are doing. It just seems people don’t know how to drive now a days.

It doesn’t matter how many times you tell people to “slow down” or “pay attention” they aren’t going to, period. Until a traffic signal is installed people are still going to “think they can make it” and get killed. Many, people have been killed here, too many. Something needs to be done. All of the good readers of Northescambia.com, telling people to slow down and drive safer pay attention simply isn’t working and never will. Molino does not have a stop and go red light, people from out of town and locals simply blow through our town usually disregarding the 65/55/65 speed limits. But hey, keep saying we don’t need a traffic signal here and other places. Keep telling people to “slow down”, “pay attention” and people will keep being injured or killed because you know what they aren’t “paying attention to while they’re driving? Your Northescambia comment. A gleaming red light probably demand a bit more of a drivers attention at the moment.
