RS I am a rural carrier for the post office. I wanted to let you know your food may have been picked up by a volunteer. We sometimes pick up more food than we have room for with our mail and packages for the day. Volunteers will meet us on the route and take what we have picked up, and may collect other bags they see. In years past the letter carries union would supply us with a “thank you” note to be left in the mailbox to show it was a postal employee who had picked up the food. Thank you for donating and I hope it was picked up by someone who was there to help.

We placed the plastic bag with food items on our mailbox just prior to the time that our mail is normally delivered. A pickup truck towing a utility trailer pulled up and helped themselves to the bag, drove away and no doubt treated themselves to other bags in our neighborhood before the postman arrived. Next year, I will be better prepared to “greet” them in the manner they so richly deserve. Semper Fi

This is a Great project and thanks to all who are involved.
Many people are in situations that they did not create and have lost work due to cutbacks and increased insurance costs for businesses.
When we think of what we have there is also the question of What if my job was gone tomorrow?
