The drivers and some of the kids are the only ones who know exactly how it happened. I was “stopped” for traffic about 10 years ago and was rear-ended. I had JUST stopped.. like the car in front of me and the car in front of her and the van in front of him. The man behind me was the unfortunate one who didn’t stop in time. You have to take the details reported with a grain of salt.

My kids were on this bus and they were fine. Ms. Diane is a wonderful driver and she very clearly loves the kids on her bus and loves her job. I was out there this morning to praise her and let her know that I know she would never hurt my children for any reason and I have NO qualms about putting my children on her bus. People (and the new media) are always so quick to be negative and judge. It’s called an accident for a reason. The only person I know to be perfect had holes in his hand and died on a cross.

My child was on this bus and Ms. Diane is an awesome bus driver. I have no problem having my child on her bus. It was an accident plain and simple. Could happen to anyone.

Furthermore…. Mrs.Mauldin is a wonderful person & a very capable bus driver. I would put my child on her bus anyway,without worry.
So like I said earlier, anyone that would like to take on this challenging career, please apply!
There are just a few requirements:
Maintain & possess a CDL with passenger & school bus endorsement
Pass a yearly DOE physcial
Pass a background check & fingerprinting
Have a good driving record
Be tobacco free
Have good communications skills
Have the ability to operate one of the largest vehicles on the road!!!

Where does the article say the driver was distracted by the kids?
Could have been other reasons like texting or following to close, day dreaming etc. etc.

My son is 22 years old and this was his bus driver in middle school. She is very capable and we had no problems the years my son road her bus. If this is a one-time accident then I don’t think Mrs. Mauldin should lose her job. And I know the argument KIDS were on the bus but we none know what exactly happened to cause the accident. Thankful that no injuries were reported….

Get a new job . if a bus driver cannot keep from wrecking due to kids distracting them then they don’t belong in the drivers seat because like it or not that’s what kids due. Sorry but I know a lot of long time drivers and they know this as well
