Both “crape” and “crepe” are correct.

The scientific name of the plant is lagerstroemia crape myrtle. “Crepe” is considered the “Southern” spelling, because it is the preferred spelling using by Southern Living magazine.

Most universities use “crape”, while the USDA uses “crapemyrtle” as one single word.
