I love Dollar Tree! I think they have good quality stuff for only $1.00! And yes, Atmore already has like 5 dollar stores but I like having more to choose from since Atmore doesn't have a Walmart/Target. It's not much different than having 3 grocery stores.. I just shop at the one that has the best sales that week lol Plus I try to get what I need in Atmore before I drive all the way to Brewton, Bay Minette, or Pensacola with gas prices like they are. However, can anyone explain how these jobs are better than trying to lure industry and manufacturing jobs to the area? Think about it. If people are manufacturing stuff they generally make more $$$ so they have more to spend in their communities. Of course, it costs the city more to lure big industry here b/c of infrastructure improvements that need to be made and tax concessions...it's a quicker fix to just get a retail store in that's paying in sales taxes every month to alatax. Jobs like Dollar Tree are low wage jobs and while any job is good...they don't have as much $$$ money to spend in local stores. I can't understand why the city doesn't want factory jobs...instead they seem to want to conjure up new taxes like taxing take out food. We got a better mix of people on the council now but we need more than dollar stores and title loans to fix the economy in Atmore. It MAY be lower quality than the same item for two dollars but price doesn't assure quality. The main thing is that people get a freedom of choice.
