Yes, there is a SSI and there is SSD also. SSD is what I recieve, and when I reach retirement age it will turn in to regular Social Security. I worked form when I was 18 till I got hurt and couldn’t work any more. I didn’t qualify for SSI just SSD when I finally got approved. Which in itself was a nightmare that took 5 years, 4 doctors and a lawyer. I am all for people that need help getting it. We as a country have way to many people who don’t want to work or do anything getting a free ride and some that really need the help that can’t get it. This country is in serious trouble.

Let’s try to set the record straight here. SSI (disability), Temporary Assistance for Needy Familiesn (“welfare”), “food stamps” (SNAP), Social Security, and Medicaid are all labelled “entitlement programs” byt the fed’l government. Social Security is paid for out of Social Security taxes . . . what’s left of them, anyway. SSI comes out of taxes. So all who work pay in for SSI. But we don’t all get it!

For Kathy, I AM a Republican. It’s Obama that keeps calling Social Security, Social Security Disability, and the Veterans benefits entitlements and welfare a right. Which is the complete opposite. I’ve paid in to my SSD!!!! I think welfare should be there for those that need it, not those that make a life out of it.

Oh yes, lets kill off the disabled, the elderly and those who cannot provide for themselves. Florida is a great state full of caring people who live them Christian message. For SSD Sherri, it is the republicans who are trying to take your SSD away from you. Wake up. You should at least know what you are talking about before you speak.

I’m on disability and my husband works full-time. We live paycheck to paycheck. My husband doesn’t have medical ins. and is working with double hernia’s and to torn shoulders. The only reason I get medical care is because of my disability. We do not qualify for goverment help. But the president says my S.S.D. is an entittlement. I just Pray we survive the rest of his term!!! God is in control!!!!!

Ignorance, surrounds the Fla house and Senate. $166.66 a month is not going buy an insurance policy for anyone, let alone someone who is living at 100% of poverty.
