The Escambia SO termed it a “carjacking”.

Under Florida statutes, a vehicle does not have to be occupied to be a carjacking…

812.133 Carjacking.—
(1) “Carjacking” means the taking of a motor vehicle which may be the subject of larceny from the person or custody of another, with intent to either permanently or temporarily deprive the person or the owner of the motor vehicle, when in the course of the taking there is the use of force, violence, assault, or putting in fear.

william, in the title you have listed one of his crimes as “carjacking”….however, in your article i dont see where it indicates that the victim (or anyone) was in the vehicle when meadows stole it….and, i dont see where meadows was charged with carjacking- just grand theft of a vehicle….i am thinking that there is more to this incident than what is actually reported- such as, who is the un-named victim? how did meadows know where to find the keys to the truck in the victims house?..just does not sound like a random act of violence and stupidity to me.

Hey Mick, I like what you said and I agree completely! He knew every step along the way that he was doing WRONG! He hurt innocent people and looks like he didn’t care because he kept at it until he was caught. Put him away for a long time!

Here’s another burden on society, no respect for life or law…a bad day? thats no way to act… lets accept the burden and put him away for a long time, take away his freedom, and let him reflect on his actions for a few years, don’t waste your comments on he’s from a good family, blah blah blah, he’s got problems, yadda yadda, yadda, what he had was freewill and he chose to do what he did, he never gave one thought about the one’s who love him and how this would affect them, nor did he care about the victims, or the law enforcement officers
