@concerned parent 2 :::: yes it is the teen or other persons responsibility to choose to be responsible and to obey the LAW which is for their protection and I am well aware nomatter how much you preach as a parent it is up to the child to make the right decisions as they grow in life however it is a much higher average than 50/50 on seatbelts saving lives verses lives saved from not wearing one. I have 3 teens myself and I by no means am saying they are perfect because they make mistakes and like everyone else learns from them, with a accident these teens were very lucky to have the chance to learn from this mistakes because everyone don't get a chance to learn from a mistake if they don't survive it. Thank you Lord for protecting these young people and praying for them and their families.

@ wowohwow...................... Seatbelts are not the cause of death or serious injury. Seatbelts are for protection. Have you ever seen the commercial that says we wasted time and money to design and install seatbelts that do not work?

I agree with the anger of the irresponsibility but like said its 50/50 with seatbelts.. at one vehicle crash I personally cut one doa down from an upside down vehicle and also helped remove the driver of the other vehicle that was doa.. the person who wasnt wearing theirs who ended up in the rear floorboard was fine. Glad all the occupants here were ok though.

Obviously have not worked ems that long if you never unstrapped someone from a seat belt who was deceased. I wear my seat belt but still high percent of people who did because of the seat belt.

@ConcernedParent2: The less painful way is to learn from others mistakes. Also wearing a seat belt gives you much better than a 50-50 chance of surviving a motor vehicle crash. The seat belt keeps you inside the vehicle and prevents you from being tossed around insde the vehicle like laundry in the spin cycle. As an EMS/Firefighter I have yet to unstrap a dead person from their seat belt.

@ CONCERNED PARENT......Parents can only talk, preach, or console so much to their children. It's is ultimately up to the young teens to make the decision to either buckle up or not. Regardless, it's a 50/50 chance a seat belt will save your life...it's a chance we ALL take when getting into a vehicle. Praise God all the teens are fine. Lessons are learned by making mistakes, and without mistakes being made individuals will NOT grow as a person.
