Well i feel that Lett could have went to the parents instead of confronting a child especially if that is true that he pulled a gun in a child.and being that my cousin timothy was already probably on probation he did what he thought he had to do and that was to protect his child.I think that it was a good gesture on his part to go and try to take the gun to the cops.the cops can be so stupid at times and not see what was is really going on .I feel that they just wanted to charge him with something BIG instead of just plain battery.THE STATE OF FLORIDA IS BROKE AND THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO GET MONEY OUT OF ANYBODY THAT THEY CAN .AND THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE THERE TO SERVE AND PROTECT WOW THAT'S AND UNDERSTATEMENT...

REGARDING:
"I believe that Timothy acted responsibly by taking the gun from Lett"

Possibly, but in general, wrestling over a weapon is not a good idea. The whole idea of a gun is that it can make holes in people from a distance; they don't have to get within wrestling range.

It DOES show the danger of using a weapon when you aren't really ready to USE a weapon. it also points out part of the price people pay when they decide to commit felonies. They can’t legally defend themselves as freely as they could’ve if they didn’t have a habit of committing crimes.

David for good outcomes

I hope that Timothy get a good lawyer or a least a competent public defender. I think that he can beat this charge. I also think that the DA should drop the charges. I believe that Timothy acted responsibly by taking the gun from Lett. In anger, Timothy could have taken the gun and used it on Lett for threatening his child, BUT he didn't.

Instead, he turned it over to the police-not days later, but immediately. Yes, he had possession of the gun but only briefly, and only to diffuse a possible fatal situation. I am proud of Timothy for not making a bad situation worse. His actions tell me that he is a changed individual. If it were not for Timothy trying to do what's right-- this story would have had a very different outcome.

Interesting and reasonable.
Convicted felons are not permitted to keep and bear arms unless their civil rights are restored.
Taking a gun from anyone is to take posession of it.
Handing that gun to an officer of the law is proof positive that you have it -- you can't give what you don't have.
These are not the actions of chickens although fowl are involved.

David for good decisions
and fewer gun fights
(although chicken fights were fun
while in water)

1. The lesson one should take away from this article is "never bring a chicken to a gun fight."

And for bringing the rifle from the crime scene to the sheriff's, Calhoun was charged with possession? That won't stand up in court. Waste of taxpayer time & money.

Stuck on stupid. Unless a person changes how they process and react they will repeat their past mistakes. I pray for a personal transformation for both of these men.
