its the last name Bass has a lot of pull in santa rosa but we will see his cousin got in a fite the next nite and he pushed the other boy in a fire and he is in mobile burn center and is not doing good

I’m not saying the State Attorney’s office won’t necessarily up the charges to attempted murder, but the reason that you see people charged with aggravated battery (which, by the way, can get you up to 30 years in prison, if I’m remembering correctly) is that it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to prove that someone actually had intent to murder on something like this. Wouldn’t you rather 30 years than an acquittal?

Why aren’t people recieveing the adequate punishment lately? I’ll tell you exactly why,

Santa Rosa County has a very disturbing cycle that they want anyone who as ever broken the law to go through. they dont care about giving you mass amount of jail times (even if acceptable), they SIMPLY just want you out, so you can get on probation, and pay the hundreds of dollars a month for different fines. Only to miss a class, small fine, etc, and be violated with three times the punishment and fines, and do it all over. All Santa Rosa County cares about is getting people on probation, why do you think everyone is always getting VOPS and barely any jail time?

Yes TJ, I feel Santa Rosa has always under charged the criminals. Heavy punishment could help lower crime, maybe even poor living conditions at the jail….

The system is very backwards, this charge should b attempted murder.. that’s y so many ppl do stuff like this cause they knw it won’t b long b4 they r back on tha street bt nw if this was a drug case, it will b worse….

That’s Santa Rosa County for ya! My late husband was stabbed in the heart in SR county, died quite a few times at the hospital but they were able to finally stabilize him and the punk that did it stayed in jail for only a year. He is now walking around free as a bird. My husbands life was cut short because of this punks actions all these years later and we have to now deal with the loss and the guy that did it basically got off scotch free!!

One time stabbed should be aggravated battery, more than once should be attempted murder… so I can stab someone 3 times in the back and once in the chest and be okay with a lesser charge? Oh and flee the scene to hide out somewhere…
