That summer break is actually "unpaid". A bit of money is taken out each month so that the teachers get a check (money that was already earned) for the summer on the last day of school. I am not a teacher, couldn't do it. Put me in a room with 30 kids and I'd end up in jail. Teachers buy supplies from their own funds, no reimbursement. Some of those every holiday known to man days off? Check the school parking lot - there are teachers there for training, planning and conferences.
