Land clearing debris means more than what you think. There's one of these on the Jay Brewton Road near the Florida line. There's plenty of debris such as construction and other waste that's disposed there, just no home trash. That site was started years ago and now it looks like the highest point in Escambia Couty Alabama.

What is more amazing Mark T is that the smelly pit near 29/10 Mile is directly adjacent to Pine Meadow Elementary School.

@Mulchman
You are right about that 29&10 mi. area it smells like 2 week old sweaty gym socks and approaches the odor of a skunk!!! Can't believe the residents put up with it.. The smell has to affect home values there...

There is a pit just off Hwy 29 between 9 1/2 and 10 Mile Roads which grinds up land debris. The place does give off quite a strong smell, especially at night, which can be smelled up to a 1/2 mile away. Maybe our new commish could look into this operation for us...

>>>It would be a great service to the community if northescambia.com could report more information about this. The site in the photo may not even be the actual location where this dump will operate. The name alone is questionable: The Brickton Borrow Pit?

The site in the photo is it, per the GPS coordinates on the application. And the name is the Brickton Borrow Pit. It's been there for years.

@Jane probably mulched land debris, wood, leaves, etc. That stuff can start to get stinky as it decays/composts. Every smell cotton seed mulch composting? It smells like diesel fuel... almost.

Looks like it would be better used as a training area for the Mars mission.

Good question Jane.
