does violent crime include shooting related incidents???? if so i highly doubt crime is down in escambia county. how many have there been this year alone?

I believe the Sheriff had said that “violent crime” is down, not overall crime. That data comes from the FBI by the way, not ECSO.
Secondly, ECSO press releases are not put out to “warn you”, they are published in an attempt to catch the bad guy. Whether a gas station down the street got robbed last night or not should have NO bearing on your “crime awareness”.
There are many thugs in this county. They occasionally rob “tax paying citizens”, though they mostly rob each other. Do what YOU think you need to do to keep you and yours safe.

Math is hard, but I’ll try to explain. A single criminal act has little influence on the overall crime statistics in an area the size of Escambia County. A gas station can be robbed AND crime can be down overall. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.

November 30; wasn’t that last week? The sheriff’s office is slipping with getting out timely crime news. Armed robbery, especially in this manner, is something that should have been put out to warn folks right away. But then again according to the sheriff, crime is down in Escambia.
