30 days is a good start. What happens for chronic users? Do they eventually loose their license long term? I agree that this law should be for all of us. I know that I am not able to text and drive safely and it has been a long time since I saw my 18th birthday.

I agree with the bill, but it should include ALL drivers. It’s extremely sad when you have to worry about people talking, texting or surfing the net more often than drunk drivers now days.

Drivers who are caught talking, texting or surfing on the phone should have their licenses suspended just as a DUI offender along with paying fees to gain them back.

Methinks Sen Altman is under the impression that once you pass that magical age of 18 years old, you are suddenly gifted with the ability to use a mobile phone and drive at the same time.

What kind of nonsense is this? This proposed law should apply to ALL drivers!

As much sa I would like to see that restricton on teen’s it to should apply to ALL drivers so much traffic on the road today you can’t keep your mind on the phone and the road out law all phones while driving.

I was in traffic yesterday afternoon about 5:15 on Hwy 29 headed north, heavy traffic. Next to me was a Pensacola policeman checking his Facebook feed on his cell phone. I was gobsmacked.

Why just young drivers Sen. Altman? This should apply to everyone. It is a distraction, and is just as dangerous as driving under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs. It is an impairment – driving while under the influence of electronic devices. (or at the very least cell phone headsets should be required). And BTY – I am way beyond the age of 18. This bill is not realistic if it is intended for only those under 18.
