@Rick, if you would have taken the time to read ALL of Steve’s response, you might not have put your foot so far in your mouth. Wilde Lake IS south of I-10, but DETROIT is north, and Steve was referring to the entire I-10 approach area….. @Steve, I got your point, and agree with you. I travel this route 5 days a week, and going north on Pine Forest, it is not uncommon for traffic to be backed up so bad that I wait through 3 red lights or more.

@Steve — I live near here, this wreck happened on the north side of I-10. Wilde Lake is on the south side. (Not that it makes any difference. I just get such a kick out of pointing out other people’s mistakes!) But, seriously, folks, I agree with everyone about the northbound bottleneck. I’ve hoped that the widening of the southbound was the first half of a longer project. Don’t they realize that everyone who goes south to work in the morning goes north to get home?

The roads needs to be widened to match the southbound side of Pineforest Rd. They widened the Southbound side years ago to help with hurricane evacuation. Did they give any thought to the fact people evacuate NORTH and not SOUTH?

If drivers would please be more courteous to one another, even if it means letting someone ahead of you, accidents like this can be prevented. No, it’s not fair that I may have been waiting to get through the Intersection, but if giving someone the chance to merge saves my life or even the hassle of filing an auto claim and having to fight to prove who was “at fault” then so be it.

Be nice out there and follow the rules of the road. Most of all, USE COMMON SENSE.

I know what the problem is i avoid that area if possible that line turns into a one line road and people get impatient because they see traffic slow down. They are stuck behind everyone else so they come flying up the merge lane trying to get in, the people that are ahead of the traffic that waited like everyone else should don’t want to let those impatient people in because they have been waiting to get threw also and they dont want someone to be driving like a idiot in front of them and slam on breaks and something like this happens

If you know that an area is a hazard….the best contol for that hazard is simply to AVOID that area…

This is what happens when people are in so much of a hurry. I see this all the time at this intersection. This road could be five lanes and with the way some of these people drive it would not make any difference.

This intersection requires some serious engineering changes. In the afternoon all that traffic creates a hugh bottle neck. I’m not surprised that more people aren’t hurt.

That area between I-10/Wilde Lake Blvd. and Detroit Blvd is one of the most dangerous intersections in this area of town. It’s a nightmare trying to get through there at times.
