I remember setting up a transit on the centerline of Hwy. 29 near Mcdavid while we were installing two additional lanes. A red gravel hauler came over the hill and started blowing his horn. We had the traffic stopped and using one lane but that truck couldn't stop; maybe he had bad brakes. I grabbed the transit and ran as the truck went around the flag man and the stopped traffic. We were lucky that day as no one got hurt. I hope this gentlemen is lucky and gets his health back.

People have no understanding of how serious driving is. It is no taken seriously any more. There are so many people in the world these days that never learn to be responsible. And they manage to get a driver's license. It would also help if the local police and sheriff's department would assigned people to stop these crazies and write tickets. The Trooper's can't do it all by themselves. I talked to a Trooper in Atmore the other day and he said there are supposed to be 11 Troopers assigned to Escambia Co., AL but there are only 2 in the whole county. He said they never have time to stop cars anymore because all they do is drive from wreck to wreck. He also said that they have started assigning Troopers from out of town to the Atmore area because that is where everyone is getting killed in wrecks and they don't get any help from local law enforcement on traffic enforcement. There have been five or six people killed this year on Hwy. 21 in the city limits of Atmore but I never see anyone but Troopers stopping cars out there.

I got one even better. Just about an hour ago; I was driving behind a car when I saw the driver's hands (yes, both of them) pulling "her" hair up. And, yes, she was actually driving down the road. First she drifted to the right, then drifted half-way across into the left lane, then corrected back to her land. She was obviously driving using her knee to steer. Very scary.

I agree with Mr. Green. people are to busy texting, cell phone, throw their trash out the window,Not Yelling at their kids for not wearing seatbelts,ect.. You get the hint! This stuff is inexcuseable. The police can't watch every driver, but if you are driving it is up to YOU to watch out for others! It doesn't matter if people are walking, riding a bike, or what, anyone driving is responseable.

Darn David. Next you'll be wanting people to get off of their cell phones, slow down when there are signs of construction, stop fooling with their radio and put down their coffee or beer. There's no end of the control on people some times.
