I’m glad you lift and run after school. What else do you do to help yourself be better than others at your position? Every player in the county lifts and runs.

There are reasons Tate does not have a winning program.
1. They have lots of students, not lots of football players to choose from.
2. Got a bunch of premodonna parents that feel like their child is entitled to win rather than actually needing to be better than the opponent.
3. No depth. (due to a lack of football talent at the school)
4. Let’s be real, look at the gene pool for cantonment.
5. Tate always has good players, but good does not mean you’re better than your opponent.

One other thing…football and academics can co-exist. So why can’t the current Principal see this? I honestly think he’s afraid of how powerful a coach may become within the school and he will lose control matters.The current situation is easily controlled with little or no effort…These two can co-exist also and work together and support one another.

BTW…who is Ronnie D? I’m hearing he coached at WFT with baseball and was fired, also coached at a local little league. Are you kidding me!!! some of you are commenting this is the new coach already. This would fit right into my comments mentioned (control)…….by the P.

Do y’all have any idea what goes into running a 2,000-student high school? Despite all the distractions like dingbat parents (see below), silly local, state, and federal mandates, and too many knucklehead enrollees, Tate is the most academically high-performing school in the county– of the high schools that don’t get to cherry pick their students anyway. But the principal should be fired because the football team loses?! Do y’all have any idea how ridiculous that is?

I hope the football team does well in the future because it’s good for morale at the school and the football players are generally good kids who work hard. However, football– or any other extra-curricular activity– is not why we have high school. What goes on in the classroom is supposed to be the primary focus. Do you people understand that?

I always chuckle when anyone in Escambia county makes some trite remark like “Education comes first.” What baloney. 90% of the people in this county see high school as existing for two reasons: 1) free baby-sitting, and 2) football. Get a grip, people.

Yes, there is talent, just not enough football player talent. Tate community grows up focused on baseball. That does not help the football program.

I am glad you blame coaches and not the Principal. I’m still baffled that people want him fired over the football teams win/loss record.

Tate basketball goes through many of these same struggles. Parents and kids whining instead of working on their own game. The kids got talent, just not as much as other schools. Look at their main feeder schools (Ransom, BAS, and Brown Barge), their basketball programs struggle. They complain and kick out one coach, bring in another, get similar results. They compete, but usually don’t make it far into districts much less past.

Sure, coaches need to be able to put players in a position to win, but at some point, these kids/parents. Need to recognize they could help themselves out by being a part of the solution rather than the problem.

I’m tired of people wanting handouts. This isn’t some upward league where everyone gets a trophy. You want a trophy? Then earn a trophy and do what it takes to prepare to win. Be better than your opponent.
