Mayor Bloomberg wanted to have the run to take place anyway but some of the hotels said they would not honor the room reservations because New Yorkers displaced by the storm had no other place to go. While we did not write the article (it was written by our statewide news service), I agree with their one use of “Hurricane” Sandy.

“Obama’s time in Florida has been cut short by Hurricane Sandy’s assault on the East Coast” — the article states.

The storm was a hurricane up until just before landfall, and all of the scheduled Obama visits in Florida were canceled while the storm was a hurricane churning up through the Atlantic…not after it made landfall.

As for the article about the marathons, the NYC Marathon was cancelled due to storm making landfall — as a “superstorm”.

It is called a superstorm to save the homeowners their insurance and if proven you missed work for the superstorm can draw as much as 26 weeks of unemployment near $600.00 a month. I don't believe anyone here was able to do that in the after math of Hurricane Ivan. There again showing the wishy-washiness of the current Washington DC officials.
