@ from the sideline,

Yes, teachers must go to college to earn their degrees. Then, they must go through various programs to get a permanent teaching license in the State of Florida that must be renewed every five years. Things change in education on a daily basis, so teachers require training to stay abreast of those changes. Teachers who are in the public school system can use "inservice (training) points" to renew their certificates, OR they can pay out of their own pockets (as I do) for six credit hours in educational college classes to renew their certificates.
It's a start - the $2 million. We need much more, but I think the intent here is to add to existing training programs, not create them from the ground up.

How many teachers are there is the state of Florida? Divide that number by the $2 million he is proposing, ......and that equals how many dollars per teacher for training........ PENNIES!
Gov. Scott, that sounds good when you say it, but it's very little in reality, so as usual teachers are getting the short end of the stick.

You're right David. 2 milion for the whole state; what is that about a $1 per teacher?

I'm not sure if it's needed or it it would help, but if it IS needed and WOULD help, it sounds like a mere two million dollars wouldn't be enough.

Just give ME the money instead and I promise to put it to good use.

Reading between the lines, Gov. Flim Flam says (my experience in business has been that if you teach your employees to double bill Medicare, then you can make billions before the Feds can catch up with you; then you can blame it all on the employees and take the 5th.) But for some reason this didn't work when I tried to double bill the counties for Medicare. Go figure.
