I agree Jimbo, pot would be worth little if it were legal. I have grown to suspect that part of the reason for keeping pot illegal is because of all the money being made on it. I suspect that if pot were legalized that there would be a major backlash from the Mexican cartels, possibly even violence toward legislators. They kill politicians and police in Mexico on a regular basis. I doubt if those two will see more than probation which will require them to pay monthly fee$. The Cartels are becomming more brazen in the US and Atty Gen Eric Holder seems disinterested in stopping them? I remember when I was a boy it was bootleg whiskey today pot is the cottage industry. I would imagine these same discussions will be taking place a thousand years from now because America seems unable to progress with the rest of the world. It is just hard put sense to it. I dont care about smoking it but it would be nice to see some of those enormous profits. We need those troops in Syria Iraq and Iran let the border police deal with the cartels.

@ Duke. This is alot like Middle Eastern oil. If we did’nt have to buy it from them, how cheap would it be then… What I mean is, if someone (not me) could legally possess 1 or 2 plants, that would put all those professional cultivators out of business. We’re fighting a losing battle on the drug war, but we could win it if we put troops on our borders. I certainly believe that if our powers that be WANTED to win the war on drugs, we’d have already won it. As another poster mentioned though, there’s no way to tax it if it’s “home grown”… unless there was a license required to grow it. Sheesh…

Jimbo I agree with you on the moral implications but at $20. a gram and 1000 grams in a kilogram. It certainly is a lot more profitable than Amway, hunting clubs and smoker wood? I agree with you though as there is nothing better at the end of the day than a dollar earned through hard honest work and the sweat of one’s brow.
