It was an flurescent light that burned out due to power surges from crews working on power lines (upgrading from what we understand). like many electrical or electronic products, flurescent lights can sometimes fail in a way where one of the electrical components or plastic materials will briefly produce a very irritating odor and possibly some smoke. Any smoke or odor produced is in a low concentration, which will not result in a hazard. The bulb was replace and all was good. However, again I will ALWAYS call the VFD to be safe rather than sorry when I have custody of God's most precious gifts daily:)) We always error on the side of safety!!
