People can politicize whatever they want. They can run as independents or as party members. They can run as Nazis, as Vegans, as Baptists or Atheists, Conservatives, Greens, Liberals, Populists, Northenders, Southenders, City-types, Country folk, Auburn graduates or Alabama Supporters, as Brainiacs or as No Nothings.

The electorate can then decide if they do or don’t like how they have acted and what they thought was important.
(What you say about others says a lot about you.)

Further, it’s kind of nice that the people who affect our lives have to answer to us.

David for answerability

The write in candidate withdrawal is not a surprise. It doesn’t mean Pam was behind it, but there are Republicans in our area that care more about winning “At any cost” and will manipulate the process. It cheapens our Democracy IMO when that happens. It’s an act or Fascism usurping America and the Democratic process.
Don’t expect Liberty to prevail in the long run when tactics are used to keep Americans from voting. Just saying.

I hope she does a good job and protects the integrity of the Office she now holds.

I don’t remember the specifics, but there was some move by the previous County Commissioners trying to muscle in on the Clerks Office and Magaha fought it in court because he knew it was wrong and he prevailed. I expect no less than that from Childers.

Moving on, in order to be a CPA, one must be very smart, diligent, and focused. It takes a tremendous amount of dedication to become a CPA, and even more to be successful at it for as long as she has. That being said, I’ll support her as long as she delivers on her campaign rhetoric and proves she can handle the job, which I’ve no doubt she can.
Also, I think it says something about how this county is run when everyone thinks something went on behind the scenes for her to go unopposed. One can’t truly blame her that no democrat is on the ticket. Anyone that was qualified could have entered the race, it’s just that no one did. If change is what you want, run for office and make changes. Continuously complaining about it while doing nothing about it will guarantee that the same thing will continue to happen. I’m not saying to shut your mouth complaining, I’m just saying what are you going to do about it. I don’t say this to start an argument, I just like to challenge people to do better or try harder.

It is too bad that she or her handlers did not feel she could win the campaign strictly on her merits as a candidate…

Nope, let’s not call her dishonest. She admitted at the time that was the intention. Powell did the same thing to keep us from voting for Sheriff Morgan with a friend of his listed as a write-in candidate.

David for good intentions

Pam Childers then feigns any knowledge of this tactic being used. It is perfectly legal so she can’t be faulted for that. Her husband is a lawyer and 2nd cousin to W.D. Childers; so, I find it difficult to believe someone in her campaign didn’t orchestrate the Msiak affair.

On an ironic note, this is from her campaign website:
“I never thought I would run for public office, that’s what other people do. But as time passed and I came to realize what was going on, I became concerned the Clerk’s office would be handed off to the incumbent’s hand-picked successor. If that happens, rest assured, the county will continue to be mired in the same good ole boy mentality.”

The good ole boy mentality was one of W.D. Childers’ hallmarks a politician. I hope it is not a “family trait”…
