ANSWERING:
"Why can’t we abolish the outdated Electoral College and have a true one person = One vote?"

We can abolish it. It only requires a Constitutional Amendment. Why some of us might not WANT to abolish it is tied to the reason we established it in the first place.

It was INTENDED to be based on selecting a number of trustworthy people who could actually know the people they were considering for the job, not just their ads and lies, and pick the best one. That was abandoned almost immediately when Thomas Jefferson set up his political party with electors committed to voting for himself.

Still, it would have its benefits since it wouldn’t tie candidates to money or power groups and wouldn’t encourage them to lie about what they actually believed in order to get elected. It wouldn't just tend to the most photogenic or best speaker being elected.

Another part of the establishment was that they wanted all the sovereign states to agree to unite into one United States. The smaller states wouldn't agree if their thoughts would be blown away by the more populous states.

The Senate and the Electoral College were both intended to be protections against the dictatorship of the majority. That is still a danger and it is still a protection against the nation being run by New York, California, Florida, Texas or whoever happens to be most populous at any one time.

I keep thinking plurality, having greatest number even though less than a majority.

So there are about 125K people not registered. I would be curious to know what part of our population is younger than 18?
