Doesn't everyone in the country have to go to some large store to buy your everyday items that you could have planed to pick up tags etc on your way.. My deal is 4 mill to build and 4 grand to rent at the old place is 83 years without maintaining to the outside. It's just not the right time to build and spend that tax revenue. It's needed more in county maintenance roofs, ac, roads etc. Keeping the grass growing on the new inspections building etc. Just think all those people in the more populated areas like Cantonment , Ensley all those people on 9mile road have to drive further to get those services there not the ones that use w street.

To all those that want to quit funding government services I say you should visit a country that does not fund them and get a new appreciation for what we have going for us here. Just a good highway from my house in Barth to my work in Pensacola is worth a lot. Imagine driving 50 miles everyday on a washed out "trail" like some do in other countries. Or having emergency services literally at our fingertips with the simple push of "911". We have it good in this country by doing things together what we can't do by ourselves.
I agree there are some abuses of the system and we're broke as a nation but I for one don't want to live like the people do in those countries I've visited and I'm willing to pay my share to keep what we have.

Went today to renew tags...no sign outside at all to mark it's location- if I hadn't seen it on this site I wouldn't have know it was there. Only me and one other woman. Four employees at stations, and still a five minute wait time...if they were still setting up, why would they open prematurely? Seems counter-productive.

Seems that the naysayers are complaining about the new office and have given little if any thought to those comments.

1. I do not recall seeing any staffing requests for the new facility. Most likely the staff are those who were formerly assigned to the Cantonment office which is now closed.

2. The Cantonment Facility was located in Leased Spaces, has consideration been given to the savings garnered by not being encumbered by a long term lease?

3. Being remodeled from an Old School it is not very likely that any of the structure is on or below grade. In fact looking at the images it is quite clear that the building is well above grade.

4. The combining of the offices of the Tax Collector and Property Appraiser in one building will no doubt save some money.

The one thing that I am not happy about is the additional distance to get there. The "W" Street location is always PACKED..... earlier today I tried to renew my tags and the drive up windows had lines at least 5 cars long, I decided to wait until later and drive to Molino. If they are swamped there I'll drive over to Santa Rosa.

Bobby, No new employees, they're keeping the same employees, just re-locating the offices trying to make it more convenient for the north end folks.

There goes more of that squandered tax money again. Just think about all those new employees needed with there healthcare insurance included that we get to pay for. I wonder if this is built in a flood proned area like our downtown county offices, sherriffs jail and county inspections office is.
