Kevin was my brother. Yesterday would have been his 43rd birthday. He’d been riding motorcycles since he was 17. All i can say is it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been riding. If you are a motorcyclist, you WILL have an accident; you can only hope it won’t be fatal, like Kev’s was.

And if you get anything from this story, let Kevin’s one fatal mistake be a lesson learned for you– always wear a helmet, even in states where it’s not the law. The liklihood is that it would not have saved Kevin’s life in this case, but in the event of an accident, it certainly ups the stakes in your favor.

Keep riding, but be safe.

The only thing I can think of is that he must have been focused on the other traffic and NOT on the road signs. If you were turning from 9th Ave (which you would have had to) you would naturally take the right hand lane thinking it was the ON ramp, like it is on the north side of the Civic Center. He was at the WRONG corner for getting onto I-110 and it cost him his life, I’m glad the girls weren’t seriously injured ! RIP!

I’m 48 and just started riding about 18 months ago.Anytime I see a Bike Rider in a accident it gets gets my attention.I like to think my “safety censors” intensify when I’m on my bike.When I here about bike accidents, it makes me question if I need to stop riding ???…naaaay…….I’m fixin” to mount up and ride now…..but I know if its my time to go,I know where I’m going !!! PTL !

This is so bad!

I hate to hear of a fellow rider going down. I just wonder how this could happen, being that there are big, red, “WRONG WAY” signs on every offramp, that you cannot miss.

My deepest condolences to his family & friends.
