Congratulations to all the students & staff that worked hard to achieve. It’s a true fact that all students can’t learn at the same level. To my knowledge, all schools have a plan in place to assist the slower students however, if the parents are not backing up the teachers by making the kids complete homework, study after school & weekends, these kids are going to continue failing which will result in schools failing. We have students that never pick up a book or any other learning material unless they are in school. We also have to look at the fact that, some of the parents just don’t value education because they may have dropped out, and is illiterate to what it takes to help this child succeed in education. I have heard parents make statements such as; the teacher is suppose to teach the kids & if little Joe is not learning, it’s the teachers fault. NO, IT’S THE PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO ENFORCE & BACK UP THE TEACHER. Parents, if you can’t help your child with academics, talk to the school staff, request help. NO SHAME.

I went to Byrneville and Bratt elementary and I LOVED Byrneville. That place was always a good place for learning. I am proud of the school. Bratt on the other hand wasn’t as good. Good Job Byrneville (:

Also, congratulations to all who took the test and did well! Having a disablitily or speaking a different language does not mean that you can’t do well on this test – just that you will have to work a little harder to accomplish what those without disablities can do.

I’m proud of all students, both regular and those with disabilities or language issues who attempted and passed this test. Keep up the great effort and I know you will see improvement next year!

The FCAT was a new version this year, and almost every teacher I have spoken to says the kids scored similarly to last year, but the passing score was higher on the new test. Therefore, the grades suffer when the kids really haven’t done that poorly, and in some cases managed to maintain.

I shared the story that my ninth grader scored the same this year on harder reading material (so that’s progress) as she did last year, but dropped from a 3 to a 2 on the reading section of the FCAT. I’ve no doubt we will see her make it next year. Numbers don’t always tell the whole story.

We do have a few “bad” schools, but I believe our superintendent is doing his best to help those who are really in need. It’s not that easy to run a school district the size of this one.

Sure you can. They do’t have to be exactly the same for a comparison. In fact that’s the point for comparisons, see how they are similar and how they differ. Sadly, this means the parents elsewhere produced better students than some of the parents in this county.

The State DOE changed the rules, plus they had a different company grade the tests. The DOE also changed the way the grading was done.

You cannot compare Escambia, to Santa Rose and Okaloosa Counties. Each county has their own unique issues. Compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges to bananas.

If you count the total number of elementary schools in Escambia County (33) and the total number of schools in Santa Rosa and Okaloose counties you will find Escambia County has far more elementary schools than the other counties. Escambia County population is so different that the other counties. We have more parents who DO NOT assist their own children!

Congraulations to all the students who work so pass the FCAT!!!!!!!

Way to go Byrneville Elementary!!!!!! I think the community should get behind this school again and help with some of the work that needs to be done! We rally around sickness and death and come to the aid, well they are trying to kill this school. The teachers are so dedicated to these kids and it shows in the grade!!!!
Thanks to the whole staff of this fine CHARTER school.
A ,B school ain’t so bad,This end has been put down for so long, so I say to those who think we are all a bunch of rednecks, maybe we are, BUT WE ARE SMART ONES.
