Response to Real Deal,

I am a rigger and have done tours for many years. I saw the stage at Wind Creek May 5th for Cheech and Chong. The stage and lighting truss that I saw were poorly rigged and I am not surprised that the show was canceled if it were the same stage. I have rigged ZZ Top before and their show carries considerably gear than most acts. While it could easily carry the light load for C & C (basically to 40' trusses of Par 64's) What ZZ Top uses would overload the staging that Wind Creek and their vendor supplies. Not saying anything bad about anyone but safety is paramount. ZZ Top and all acts send what is known as a 'rider' which specifies technical specifications for everything from the stage dimensions and lighting and sound requirements to catering. Most acts try to fulfill their part of the contract amid many unforeseen circumstances and difficult situations because of the fans but sometimes it just doesn't happen.

If Creek is it's own Govt., then why are they always getting money from MY Govt.??? We all pay taxes on ALL monies we take in, why shouldn't Creek? I don't have children in school, so how does Creek giving monies to local schools help the rest of the community?? Pay you due taxes, afterall, MY Govt., will be sending you a check anyway......

Enough about PCI not paying taxes. PCI is a government.. Governments do not pay taxes. Only a fraction of PCI land is "in trust" and not subject to property taxes. They pay taxes on over 5000 acres. If the casino is subject to taxation, then there can be no gaming. No gaming equals lost jobs for at least 2000 people. All those people (tribal and non tribal members) pay state and federal income taxes on their wages. The only tax we are talking about is property tax....the bulk of which goes to education. PCI more than contributes to education. This is about closing the casino, nothing more, nothing less. Outsiders with an agenda hood winked the Escambia County Commission.

Must have been some serious issues if they could not be remedied while the band waited.
What were the issues anyway?

Since the Creek Indians don't have to pay taxes, can't they afford a better stage & seating? You would think they could do better, right? It's quite embarassing.

Maybe they knew if the stage collapsed they couldn't sue WC so they figured it too risky since they couldn't be held accountable since they throw that sovereign immunity card around so freely.

First of all the casino does NOT own the stage the Casino has a company to come out and put the stage up In fact the stage is the same stage used sometimes at the wharf and down on the beach for numerous singers .Second these guys were very demanding for there time spent at Casino of which the Casino would have had to pay them several hundred thousand dollars to perform but being the performers cancelled the casino is not obligated to pay them .zz tops manager was given all the information about the stage and who installs it before they agreed to come .So I can understand if they felt it was unsafe BUT they made the choice the casino didnt .ALSO everything spoken here is not speculation or opinion these are the facts @William you can email me and I can prove it
