I once told my bride of 16 years this august, “If you are going to raise a hand to me you had better be asking a question” as I wouldn’t raise one toward you. I guess boom boxes and picture frames are not hands though.

OK let’s switch the gender roles for one minute and think about this. All things being equal, we should be hearing:

“Boy, you need to take your kids and get out of that relationship NOW. Women never change. The abuse will just get worse if you stay with her. Think of your safety and that of your children. I knew a guy one time who was a friend’s brother’s second cousin whose wife used to beat him. He thought it would get better and he ended up dead.”

I agree with the writer ‘ME’ — there is nothing humorous about this story! She should serve as much time as a man for domestic violence. If she’s that unhappy that she needs to use items for weapons, I would be handing her a suitcase full of her clothes before putting her out on the street! It doesn’t matter to me if there are chiildren in the household; if she can’t manage her anger with a man, what would or could she do with a child! Thank the Lord, she didn’t have a knife close by.

@ Flemings—try to hang in there. If she’s a good mother don’t let this mess up your kids. I know my wife and I had some “spirited discussions” years ago—but that was then, this is now. It’s good to see a man stand up for his wife even in the worse of times.
