No difference in this than the Escambia county comissioners doling out your property taxes to various charitys throughout the year. I donate to United Way through my paycheck, my property taxes should NOT be used for the purpose of charitable contributions.

Socialism. Money should not be taken through taxes to pass through the hands of a greedy government to be passed out at their discretion. “Welfare” by another name is “welfare” just the same.

I AM SO HAPPY FOR THIS FAMILY, I SEE THE HUSBAND OUT EVERY DAY WORKING ON THE HOME . IT LOOKS BETTER THAN IT LOOKED BEFORE, KEEP UP THE HARD WORK.

I agree with Wise Up, $53,750 per home if 8 homes are being renovated and a contractor got the renovation for $12,698 for the one home. Where does the $41,052 go that wasn’t used on the one home?

I believe a governmental WPA grant after WWII is what put some people back to work and built several of our area’s small community schools that we still use today.

Congrats Century on showing the initiative to apply for and be awarded a grant that was going to be given to someone-regardless of how we feel on its worthiness. Believe it or not, once money has been designated for a grant, its pretty hard to give back. Glad it was us!

$430,000 worth of renovations for 8 homes = $53,750 per low/moderate income home. These sums of money would be excessive even for a high income home. Thank you Town of Century for once again proving your wasteful spending habit.
