Not under your definition, no. But your definition requires usage to hold a legitimate opinion. I showed where that would be a silly requirement by giving examples which anyone would already hold an opinion as to the lack of wisdom of doing or usage.

There was a lady a few years back who was growing opium poppies because they were so pretty. She was selling the seeds to other flower lovers.

Since they were EXACTLY the same flowers used to produce as opium, morphine, heroin, codeine and others, feds shut her down. If people would not use such things, they would be better off. If they insisted on using such things, they should know imported varieties fund terrorists and dictators.

You’re comparing having an opinion about pot to having an opinion about killing people? Taking cyanide? Eating glass?

Please consider just how silly a statement that is.

If you HAVE smoked it, you only know how it affected you, assuming you remember. You know whether you liked it or not.

That does not mean you can not hold a legitimate opinion based on legitimate sources of information. You could have observed how others behaved while under its influence as well as how they behaved as the effects wore off.

You could have an opinion based on other criminal activities it finances and the associated murders. I admit these are caused by the demand coupled with the ban but they DO exist.

But most important, substitute some other activity or substance:

“If you’ve never tried cyanide, then you have no legitimate opinion about it.
Period.”

“If you’ve never killed a helpless victim, then you have no legitimate opinion about it.
Period.”

“If you’ve never swallowed broken glass, then you have no legitimate opinion about it.
Period.”

“If you’ve never stared into the sun for an hour, then you have no legitimate opinion about it.
Period.”

I’m pretty sure all those are more harmful than smoking, but unless your brain’s messed up by some substance, you can see that they are faulty statements.

I think Auburn AND Alabama suck though I’ve never watched one of their football games. Is my opinion legitimate?
