I have lived off 97 for over 15 yrs never had a problem the problem is the drivers we don’t need a red light at that intersection it will not solve anything people just need to pay attention and slow down

Michelle and C.W I agree with you both. Well said. I think that unless your south bound on 29 you should enter the Tom Thumb from Crabtree church. It seems that most of these accidents happen from people entering the T.T. from the northbound direction or leaving it in the northbound direction.

Jerry~ since I live on 97 I can say a TON of the big rigs come this way but knowing a few of the drivers most of them will tell you its very difficult and dangerous (because of accidents like this) for them to come in off 29 to 97. Thats why they jump on at the top of 95a. Sure some are driving too fast but most are just trying to avoid an accident. Accidents slow them down, take away loads and cause them to lose money. Some are clearly not safe but most are just trying to pay the bills.

Many I got a speeding ticket . Because of this I had to take a safety driving course, then when I became a truck driver I went to school and also there we learned driver saftey. Here is my point I learned years ago 1. never when following a big truck assume anything like if truck goes thru intersection don’t assume the light is green because it made it through. 2 Never turn in any direction when following to close a big truck because you field of sight is blocked from truck. I wish every person who obtained a drivers license had to take safety courses b4 hand maybe some not all but some would learn all the things to look for as I did. It has really helped me and thank God I have never had a wreck or caused one. Even when I drove an 18 wheel truck in the 48 + Canada. Still to this day I remember and use the things I learned in them course and taught them to my kids too.

To All comments.
everyone travels these roads and I live on 97.
I have to pull to shoulder to keep from getting hit by
someone when I turn into my drive.
I had a log truck one day when I was turning in going south
almost hit me and the car behind me.
THE DRIVE WAS GOING WAY TO FAST.
my turn signal was on way before I got to my turn the car behind me had no problem,
but the log truck did.
SLOW DOWN PEOPLE.

People think the intersection isn’t that bad. Wait until they get hit or hit someone there or someone they love gets hit and hurt. Then the intersection will become dangerous. We need a traffic light to expedite turns, crossings, and slow traffic down.

So if it CAUSED even one death, it wouldn’t matter if the traffic light were free?

I don’t know that it would and it might well save many lives if installed but sometimes the effect is opposite of what was intended. I’ve seen people race through red lights several seconds after the light changed at 95A and Nine Mile Road. They seemed to think the light meant nothing unless law enforcement dwelt there, whereas others thought they could go when the light turned green and two vehicles wound up occupying the same bloody space.

A red light would not work at this intersection because those of us who live on Crabtree Church Rd. already have a hard enough time getting out during the morning school rush and the afternoon. A red light would just make it worse.

Dont make unnecassary comments if you dont know the whole story. The mustang was blocked from view of the other driver by a logging truck. Its not a case of someone not paying attention. Accidents happen. The person in the suzuki is a very careful driver. It just happens that this time there was an accident. And theres a reason its called an accident.
