BarrineauParkDad suggests that the exit from the gas station should be south bound only; it is! There is no break in the median to allow cars exiting from the gas station to cross over and there are laws against going northbound in a southbound lane. Anyone who uses the gas station knows that to go northbound legally you must exit the back of the station and follow the roads to the intersection.

As long as people are going to be inattentive and break laws left and right I’d like to have Jane explain just how a traffic light at that intersection would help. Maybe in a perfect world …………

In order to pull out from the Tom Thumb parking lot and get hit by a north bound vehicle, you have to travel north bound in the south bound lane to get into the intersection. I witness someone doing this nearly every time I’m there.

The intersection is dangerous enough when everyone is following the proper traffic flow. Most people aren’t look for someone to merge into traffic north bound from the south bound lane. It should be right turn only out of the Tom Thumb parking lot. If you must go north, exit to Hwy 97 and go through the intersection properly.

It comes down to two things, impatience and a total disregard for the rules of the road. Who wants to wait there turn at the intersection, as they should? Mrs. Peek may think twice next time, but probably not.

The problem with this intersection it needs a stop light not a turn lane. Also the intersection’s at Barreneau Park and Molino Road intersection need stop lights and the speed might slow down.

Having said that, there are probably not many of us who have not been the impatient, inattentive driver sitting there waiting on a tow truck. I don’t want to sound self-righteous, I could certainly be more patient and attentive myself. Glad no one was hurt (physically), I’m sure someone’s wallet is going to feel a little pain.

When I pull up to that intersection I can’t see what the problem is. There is good visibility in all directions as well as an entrance lane for the southbound traffic to get up to speed. The things that I can’t see that are part of the problem: Impatient drivers who refuse to wait until the traffic is clear; Inattentive drivers who do not look all ways before proceeding. Fix the drivers (good luck!) and you will fix the problem.
