Adults should not be ticketed for not wearing a seatbelt. Adults should be ticketed for not buckling up their kids. Adults should be ticketed for texting while driving. It is a great idea to always buckle up but that law is not consistent with a free society. Not wearing a seatbelt does not effect other peoples rights. I don't want to hear about insurance or we need to make many other things illegal such as swimming without a life jacket.

If a person gets in your vehicle then you should tell him to buckle up are get out. Simple! And yes we need to find out why our leaders cannot pass a text and cell phone ban in the State of Fl. No common knowledge anymore. You need a 6 million dollars system to tell you it is foggy on the I-10 bridge across the bay in Mobile. Idiots

I always wear my safety belt, it saved my life a few times no doubt, I also wear a helmet when I'm on my bike, what I don't understand is why they like to throw stats out about seatbelts and ignore the bigger problem as to why so many wrecks are happening. It's the distractions like cellphones/texting but they're still legal..it's only a $166. fine even if you kill multiple people, it just doesn't make Any sense, people are dyin from others ignorance/selfishness and nothin is being done about because Everybody feels like it won't happen to them til it does then they come up with the Lame excuse that "it was an accident".. I feel sober people should be held accountable for their actions just like a drunk is.. there should be penalties for distracted driving on par with DUI laws.

May I suggest they start at the Department of Children and Famiies office on Brent Lane across from PCA. I provided transportation for someone there today and sat in my car reading a book to pass the time while they went in to complete their business. I was there for about an hour and a half and out of 16 vehicles during that time with young children in tow only 2 seemed to be properly restrained. Probably the most egregious thing I saw was 2 different people in separate cars who came out carrying their baby in what looked like a nice carseat just placed the seat in the car and drove away without securing it. No they did not have a snap in base, I had that with mine and know what it looks like when you put one in. I was just flabbergasted at the disregard for their children's lives. I have seen similar behaviors at the health dept in Molino.
