To David Hule Green
Whether outlawing lobbyist is legal or illegal is not the question. I am aware that it is legal the same as abortion is, but do not agree with that either. Lobbyist spend billions to further the selfish agendas of who they are lobbying for. In most cases corporations. Corporate greed has crashed our economy, The fault lies with both parties, As far as the Governor buying his position. It was achieved by money he spent using negative media publicity against his opponents, both McCollum and Sink linking their beliefs to the beliefs of Obama. The fact that the voters did not get the money does not make it any less true, however I will agree that they got what they deserved. When special interest contribute millions to campaigns, the politicians are going to pay them back by introducing and passing legislation that the special interest groups benefit from. A prime example is GEO corporation, their obscene contributions to members of the republican controlled senate, house and Governor. The first thing the Senate and house chose to introduce was privatize the state prison system. GEO is a for profit prison company that has horrendous records in other states. Another example is Ray Sansom, who by the way had accepted a considerable amount of money from GEO, passed a bill to build a prison in Milton that is contracted to GEO. This was a cost to the taxpayers of 200 million. Now the state is closing other prisons because the inmate population is decreasing and they do not need the beds. If the population is decreasing why build another 200 million dollar prison and close existing prisons? My point in all of this is that the voters need to start paying close attention t what they are voting for. As long as we have politicians accepting huge fees from special interest you are voting for that special interest group, because that is what is going to be in control.

REGARDING:
“Our current Governor and his puppets in the House and Senate are probably the reason we are seeing more people register as Democrats.”

Yep, Scott’s good for the Democratic Party.

AND
“The same as the Obama/Pelosi combination got Rick Scott elected”

Yep, Pelosi’s good for the Republican Party.

AND
“The first thing we need to do is outlaw lobbyist and make it illegal to accept campaign contributions.”

Nope, outlawing lobbyists is illegal under the First Amendment. They are a way people petition the government for redress of wrongs and speak for the needs of their constituents.

The Supreme Court has ruled that money is speech and thus, making it illegal to spend money to further ideas one favors is also a violation of the First Amendment.

Publishing how much who gave whom, though, is okay. The only reason it isn’t done is that our elected officials voted otherwise. Can’t imagine why.

AND
“Rick Scott spent 73 million dollars to buy the Governors office. Am I the only one that thinks that he seen it as an investment?”

Investment in ego. He often seems clueless, but at least his mother assures us he’s a good boy. Please note, though, he didn’t buy the office, his election still required the support of a majority of the voters and the voters didn‘t get the money he spent.

Both parties are controlled by their own special interest and not the interest of their constituents. Our current Governor and his puppets in the House and Senate are probably the reason we are seeing more people register as Democrats. The same as the Obama/Pelosi combination got Rick Scott elected, as the Bush/Cheney fiasco got Obama elected. The people have been practicing this knee jerk reaction in voting for whatever is different from what they have no matter how ill prepared that different something might be. The first thing we need to do is outlaw lobbyist and make it illegal to accept campaign contributions. Rick Scott spent 73 million dollars to buy the Governors office. Am I the only one that thinks that he seen it as an investment? Mitt Romney is another Rick Scott, only with a cheesier smile and Holiness hairdo. I am torn on who to vote for. I cannot even determine the lesser of two evils.

429SCJ, I will remember him for much more that he can take credit for doing. I certainly hope he can win again because he holds key ideals and beliefs we both share 100%. We don't need the likes of Mitt in office!!

President Obama's impotence in securing this Nations borders is a mystery to me?

I will vote for Romney. I feel that Mr Obama will be remembered as an anomolie, that
came about only as a result of the Cheney/Bush tragedy.

Sometimes we just have to do as my dad always said: we just have to vote for the lesser of the two evils. Most of all we need to pray and ask God what his will is for the United States of America and vote.

REGARDING:
"the rich tend to favor rules and regulations that favor their standard of living rather than those less fortunate"

One would expect as much just as women favor rules which make life better for women, Latinos -- for Latinos, animal rights activists for animals, farmers for farmers, et cetera. We’re a nation of many wanting many different things.

Bankers want banks to be able to make money.
Investors want banks to not go bankrupt.

Both are presumed rich but do not have the same intermediate goals even if the goal of each one is wealth.

Furthermore, many people have money in retirement funds and are part of the investors so the vast majority of Americans are in the investors group whether we know it or not.

(The State of Florida retirement funds had much invested in BP prior to the recent blowout, probably still does. Florida didn't want the environmental damage but did want the profits to pay retirees. So even if we don't have personal retirement accounts, we’re invested through our governments and companies.)

We’re all in this together.

"I feel neither party has done much to prove themselves worthy in the upcoming election"

And yet we must select.
We can vote for third parties which are numerous, nutty and self interested and which would be ineffective at best.
We can sit out the vote and let extremists rule the selection process.
We can join or remain in some political party and try to improve it.
We can go independent and only get to select from among the parties' offerings.

We’re all in the same canoe. It’s silly to think we can just sink the front or the back of the canoe.

David up the creek

David I tend to agree with the unusual concept that the rich tend to favor rules and regulations that favor their standard of living rather than those less fortunate. It's not paranoia in my view...it's fact. While I certainly favor the messages and ideals of the Democratic party, I feel neither party has done much to prove themselves worthy in tbe upcoming election.

REGARDING:
"Romney will make the fat cats richer and the middle class poorer. "

The goal of the rich is to make other rich people richer? I thought those who think all rich people are even more greedy than themselves would expect them to want to take it away from others expecially those with much to lose.

Maybe Romney HAS a secret plan to destroy the foundation of the nation, but it's hard to see how that would make anyone richer.

David considering paranoia and greed

REGARDING:
"Sure Obama has a large deficit under his watch but he didn’t accumulate all of that by himself"

debt: the total owed
deficit: the difference between income and outgo

This year's deficit adds to the debt but is attributable solely to this year's spending and taxing difference.

Further, spending decisions this year are not because of a belief the path the former president took MUST be followed, rather because the current president believes this spending is desirable. President Obama is a wonderful human being but at some point he must take responsibility for his own decisions lest he seem petty.
