Some motorcyclist as a lot of automobile operators ignore safe driving habits and fail to follow the rules of the road by doing things that end up getting someone seriously injured or killed at which time it's too late to correct their mistakes. Unfortunately drivers that form these bad habits will probably never change for the better. Remember you must operate your vehicle for two persons you and the driver that is close to you. Always drive defensively expect the unexpected

REGARDING:
“They are called ACCIDENTS for a reason."

Yes, they are.

And that reason is to absolve us of responsibility when they happen, to blame it on Fate or The Lord or The Devil or the car or the road.

Sometimes there was absolutely nothing we could have done differently to avoid the incident. I just can't remember any examples right off hand. Every time I've had an "accident" I could look back later and realize things I could have done to avoid it. Usually the things I could have done were things I was taught to do for that very reason. I could have gone slower. I could have ignored that miniskirt and watched the road since the other men weren’t watching the road either. I could have let the crazy person take the road. I could have stayed out of Flomaton that day. (That's just an old joke about a man who told the lady it was his fault since he knew she came there on Saturdays.)

Further, discussing ways to avoid the risk of getting killed is not heartless even though the discussion is spurred by someone else's injuries. We wish them well and would wish others to avoid similar injuries.

Really people? If this was someone you knew would be be bashing them and saying rude things? What is wrong with you people, this man is a good man and yes i know him personally, he works to raise money for many charities he is a father and a grandfather and a husband, stop trying to carry the torch and pitch fork no mob is needed have some freaking compassion, maybe you should look for the pic of this man laying in a hospital bead in serious condition, not that you would care would you? because all you want to do is say nasty things about a person you know nothing about and assume you have an idea of the situation. quick to judge aren't you ?........... I pray he is better quickly and glad he has walked away with his life. if you read this know that no matter what is said by those that are clueless we are all hear for you, there are so many that love you and we all are happy to know you have your life !

well I have ridden bikes for over 40 years and yes the people who zip in and out of traffic are idiots! they make it hard for the rest of us to get a fair shake from the public. in this case the bike was at fault. not following the rules makes it hard on everyone.

Harley, from one biker to another, if you break the rules of the road,
youre an idiot and get what you get!

you can tell who rides and who dont on here. If a truck had caused the wreck none of these idiot comments would have been made. Why can't ppl just hope the best for all involved instead of throwing the blame game. They are called ACCIDENTS for a reason.

REGARDING:
"and then there would be no need for stickers telling me to watch out for idiots!"

The cautions aren't there because motorcyclists drive badly. They are there because so many people don't see motorcycles. Their eyes see them but their minds erase the thought of their presence.

I've always suspected these were the same people who shoved smaller kids aside back in school as if they weren't there. In their minds, they WEREN'T.

I've never driven a motorcycle, but I ran into those attitudes back when I drove an old 66 Dodge Dart and everybody else had much bigger vehicles. They would run you off the road and wonder why you were upset if they even noticed the explosion behind them.

On the other hand, they also fail to notice school buses nowadays, so maybe it isn't a size thing after all.

Maybe it would be more accurate and inclusive if the bumper stickers simply said WATCH OUT!!!! or my favorite WARNING. YOU CAN BE KILLED.

David for cautious driving.

livinmolino you took the words right out of my mouth! I realize not all motorcycle drivers are bad, but many act as if they own the road and certain laws do not apply. The bumper stickers make me angry since they don't seem to watch for me. I am driving my children around and should not have to slam on brakes when they decide to squeeze between me and another car. I hope everyone involved is o.k. and that a lesson is learned.

@joe- Everyone has accidents, cars, trucks, motorcycles, even boats, bicycles and firetrucks apparently. I'm sure you've caused a few in your lifetime. So that classifies you as an "idiot" as well. And before you use the word "idiot" so loosely think about what you say.

If you drive a motorcycle it's always safest to drive as if you're filling the lane you're in. squeezing through traffic is asking for trouble. Driving with others is the next concern unless you keep safe distances and follow the first rule above. (no competition). It's very easy to disappear into a car or truck driver's blind spot.

the bike riders and all those sporting the "look twice stickers"
expect the entire world to watch for their (the riders) mistakes
perhaps everyone should just pay attention and follow the laws and then there would be no need for stickers telling me to watch out for idiots!
