They walk freely until time of trial.

At trial, they might be acquitted (as happened with him in 2007, possibly because jurors decided he was too young to be a criminal). the prosecutors might decide not to prosecute (as also happened with him in 2007), they might be convicted, they might decide to plead ere trial (as happened with him back in 2010 along with decision by prosecutors to not prosecute some other charges).

If they are acquitted, they should have never been in jail in the first place. If they plead nolo/guilty or are convicted, they might only owe a fine (such as the one he still owes from 2010 as well as the new one from last month) or might have to do prison time (or in his case, time served back in 2010).

It keeps judges from being bored and slows down commission of crimes while they are doing the paperwork.

Well then, if he just goes to jail and us tax payers foot the bill; I wouldn’t consider that letting him just “walk” either.

Got to agree with Terri – not only will taxpayers foot the bill for the public defender but also for the incarceration (food, clothing and shelter) but we’ll pay for the probation officer too. I can’t believe that it probably costs a couple thousand dollars just to arrest him in Century, transport to Pensacola, fingerprint, photograph, book and probably feed him and then he gets out on bond for 10% of what the bail was which is $100 out of pocket. We’re already behind the curve financially.

He’s not exactly walking with just a payment of $100. He’ll have a court date, and in the end this will cost him thousands of dollars, supervised probation, as well as possible jail time. So they didn’t exactly let him “walk”.

I realize this is somebodies child but he seems to be our problem now.
