Another crash on the unpatrolled infamous Hwy 97. This road has had so many wrecks on it I drove it myself not long ago to see if some major problem existed on this route and couldn,t find any. All in all its a road any experienced driver could handle. SO why so many accidents? It is no coincidence that the accident rate on a graph chart paralells the rising rate of texting while driving, cell phone use, and other driver distractions. (Eating, drinking, applying make-up, etc.
Speed is another factor. This is a road that if one drives the speed limit, it is an easy hwy to travel. Go figure

Maybe it’s because Tungoil Rd comes up on us pretty quickly, by the time we realise it’s there we’ve just about past it.

Heading into Atmore, just before Tungoil Rd, There is a green mailbox that I use for a marker. So I have enough time to slow (from 55) and indicate for other drivers behind me.
