Judy,
I am so sorry for your loss. Douglas was one of the most special men I have ever known. You will never know how much his kindness meant when my dad was sick. For those who did not know this man, this is the kind of person he was....Douglas came by my moms house and gave her a paycheck for my dad every week that he was out of work. That was the only income they had other than SSI. My dad, Edward Knight, had triple bypass in Oct 2008. He was stubborn and wanted to go back to work a short while later because he wanted to "earn" his money that Douglas was continually paying him each week (not many of those men left, right?!) Douglas called me to see if I thought it would be ok (how funny!). All I could say was "Well Douglas, what can we do, he's not happy unless he's working". So Douglas allowed him to come back to work as long as my dad had another driver in the truck with him. I think this is why Douglas loved my daddy so much-he was a hard worker, just like him. My dad passed away on May 28, 2009. He worked the day he died, thanks to Douglas. And this is what made my dad happy, to work, and Douglas knew it. When Douglas came to the hospital before my dad passed away-you could tell he was so upset. When he hugged me, he was on the verge of tears and was shaking all over. It broke my heart! That is how much he loved my daddy. Douglas even let us use my dads work truck (one of his M&S 18 wheelers) to lead the funeral procession (my dad LOVED that truck and washed it every weekend!).

My family will never forget his kindness and compassion for my dad. He will be truly missed. I honestly believe my dad would have been waiting for him when he got to Heaven. If there were ever two angels that deserved heaven, it was definitely those two!!

Judy, Mark & Shelley,
Please let my family know if there is ANYTHING we can do for you. It would be our honor! We will be praying for your family.
