I have to agree with David yet again. IF everybody would come to a complete stop and actually look at the traffic for a second or two so they could judge the speeds and positions…….there wouldn’t be ANY wrecks there. I travel that road all the time and have never had a problem at that intersection because I have the sense to stop and look at all the traffic before I pull out into it. Maybe a lot of others should try that too.

You CAN see but you have to actually stop and look for a second or two for those right at the bottom of the hill

I agree EMD. The best one for me is to come out on Alger Rd behind the Abundant Life Church. You cannot see what is coming up the hill coming north at Hecker Rd. I am surprised there is not more wrecks there at Hecker and 29. I am glad no one was hurt real bad.

I worked in that area for 5 years, and I agree with Hecker Road Resident. The road by the old Country Bumpkin is safer.

Remember when the town council voted to make it ONE WAY east so traffic wouldn’t be pulling out in the path of vehicles coming up the hill?

They gave up because at least one thought that would also require them to make Bradley Street one way west (northwest?) and hurt Country Bumpkin business. (It would not have and would probably have improved business while reducing danger. At least it’s doing a booming business so I guess it’s worth it.

That aside, it’s good they cleared the corner some recently. A large convex mirror at the intersection showing traffic coming from the south would be nice but nobody seems to use them.

As someone who lives in the neighborhood, that intersection is very dangerous. The line of sight from Hecker Road at the park is not far enough for the speed that traffic travels coming from Pensacola. Most “locals” don’t try to access 29 directly from Hecker at that point because it is so extremely dangerous. We either turn up Alger when heading toward Flomaton or turn off Hecker just before the park and access 29 from the old Country Bumpkin. Take heed from someone who travels that route on a daily basis, DON’T access 29 directly from Hecker!!!
