" It's extremely hard to feel any pity for him if he did what he is accused of doing. Ultimately he is responsible for the choices he made that day and each one before and after. Most people don't grow up to do such things. Somehow he became convinced what he did was okay. Maybe he was raised wrong or not at all. Maybe his friends had a stronger influence on him than any good influences (assuming some existed) in his life. It doesn't make a lot of sense because we pick our friends, but most of us didn't grow up as he did. A reasonable question might be as to why he grew up as he did, could anything have done differently? No, we know things could have been done differently because, again, most don't grow up to act this way. I don't see where we owe him too much pity or consideration if he did what he is accused of doing, but anything which could reduce such actions in the future by other people would be appreciated. Blame "society" if you wish, but then you would wish "society" would do your job of raising decent human beings. Request to all parents: Please look at the decent people you know and learn from the people who raised them. Look at the sorry people you know and avoid any errors you see in how THEY were raised. Glad he was found. As far as his parents. we all tend to look @ the parents in situations like this or outrageous behavior but its not always the parents. It may or may not be in this case. We as parents(some) supply these children with positive direction. Its ultimately out of our hands which direction they choose. As unfortunate as it seems we have no control of their actions when they are "adults".
