This story is not reported in the mainstream media. I first heard about this on Al-Jazeera.
It’s awful to think that so many Americans and their families are struggling in this way, and yet the story gets brushed aside.
Well done for highlighting this important issue – a problem that is also present here in the UK, and also hardly gets mentioned.
The Global economic problems have hit so many families, causing hardship, hunger and housing issues, along with physical and mental health related problems.
Let’s hope that more can be done to support those most in need.

I am a public school teacher and watch the faces of kids each day that I know aren’t getting the nutrition they need. Thank you Sesame Street for addressing one of the most essential problems American children face. It is hard to learn when your stomach is growling. Let’s work together to make sure no child goes hungry.

Thank you so very much Sesame Street for shedding light on the growing problem of hunger. I run a food bank in Northern Arizona. We feed 300 people each week up three fold in three years. We also supply supplemental nutritional back packs to local school children. I look forward to seeing the special.
