Many years ago I installed sonic whistles in the grill of my vehicle. I have yet to strike a deer. I have found also that reducing my speed at night helps as well. I see people blowing down 29 like they were giving away gold up the road. If you need to drive fast take it out on I-10 and get it out of your system. These country roads are just that, country roads. Slow down, chances are it?, and you will still be there when you arrive.

I do hope that this man will be alright. Hwy 29 is aweful for deer, I was hoping that none would run out in front of me, that very same night.

I can just about bet you, that it’s a proven fact…
If something jumps out in front of a moving vehicle, that the person driving; is going to jerk the steering wheel. It is an instant reflex…

Steve you have lost your mind. Guaranteed that if you hit a deer at the speed that folks drive on Hwy 29, you will need to replace more than your bumper. Likely would need to replace the car if not your life.

My sister-in-law hit a boar hog some year ago and she was only doing about 45 MPH. She ended up in the hospital for several weeks recuperating from several broken bones that required surgery. A deer in most cases is much larger than a boar hog. Also her accident was when cars were made strong and heavy and not out of plastic as they are today.

To Steve. . . .I was once an insurance adjustor, and one of my first cases involved a woman who did what you suggested. Unfortunately, the deer came through the windshield, hitting the woman and killing her instantly. So it’s not always just a bumper that could be damaged.

I travel that road every night on my way home from work, and deer just show up out of nowhere. I thank God every night I get home ok.. I hope this man is ok and my prayers are with he and his family
