As a retired teacher, I have always advocated that all members of the Legislature, the Governor and immediate staff, all cabinet members, and their top level staff be required to pass the highest FCAT level test each year before they can be paid. They should only have one try and take it under the same conditions students are required to undergo.

I agree. Everyone should google and download “Pathways to Prosperity”. It is a study by Harvard that compares the educational system in the U.S. to other countries that are now passing us by. A must read for every parent and grandparent. Should be a required read for everyone in Congress.

I wonder if these yahoos could pass FCAT!!! Do they have children that take FCAT? FCAT will be the death of our educational system. Teachers can no longer teach and give our children a well rounded education because their job depends on the outcome of one standardized test. RIDICULOUS!!!!! I wish these politicians would concentrate on something useful like creating jobs and allow teachers to do theirs which is to create well rounded, educated individuals, not little robots.
