So they got 5 people off the streets, OK, cleaned up 2 tons of trash, OK. I bet there is more than ten times as much of both left on the streets. Cleaning up Century will not happen in a day, it will take at least a generation. First start with substantial jobs, not just jobs for a servant class, good paying full time employment. Attract people to move to Century with the sleepy country feel and opportunity to make money. For those that say “it is the persons own fault for not having a job”, I really don’t know how you could make such a baseless statement. How many of you are under-employed? How many of you are unemployed, but have been looking for a job. How many of you have had to take a job that payed less than 50% of what you have been accustomed to making. I have a degree in Physics and have been looking for a job in Esc county pretty much all year. Because I don’t want to make bombs (weapons systems are pretty much where the jobs are for my degree around here) I am under-employed. I was unemployed, choosing to wait for a meaningful job, instead of taking a servant class job paying under $10 hr, which would take up valuable job searching time. Where there are educated working people, there is less crime, look it up. I grew up in Century, and it has gotten worse than when I was there. Educate people, give them a good job, allow them to buy affordable housing, and they will have no reason to commit crime.

Prolly stay in school would help . the dollar stores are helping with more job for the 1 or 2 that would work a a place to keep stealing from (the other 98%)

I just wonder why they dont build or make a place for these kids in this town, they wonder why theres so much drug use and drug deals what else is there? More dollar stores? cmon one is enuff and one right over the bridge build a bowlin alley or something theres not even a movie store so what else is people expose to do?????

Do you really think that the military has the jurisdiction to come into a town and just arrest folks? Come on, they were students from the technical school helping out with the clean up (garbage).

Your going to need 5 more of these sweeps to get all the garbage out of
the town, and your going to need 50 more to get the two legged
garbage out of the town. That will only happen if they stop running
their mouth’s in advance of the sweep and it sure looks like nobody
is listening. Dog and Pony Show – whoop whoop!

If you have no job and no money, they have grants for you to go to college. There is no excuse for not getting an education, if you are poor, and pulling yourself out of that situation. You have to want it, and go for it. PERIOD I have seen it many times. Jobs are not going to come looking for you. So if you think selling drugs is a legitimate excuse for not having a job, well then, we can all see your character. Check into grant money or student loans for a local JC or trade school. Help yourself and your community.
