REGARDING:
“you do not have to be going very fast to crush up a vehicle”

No idea how fast they were going, glad they weren’t killed but slow collisions are unlikely when the article includes the statement “struck several trees”. Now if it said, “brushed several trees” slow is more likely.

you do not have to be going very fast to crush up a vehicle. Several years ago i witnessed an accident where 2 vehicles were completely stopped at a red light. Light turns green, car #2 starts to accelerate before car #1 (who was in front) does. Car #2 couldn’t have even been going 1 mph and you wouldn’t believe how crushed in the front of their car was. The hood was completely demolished.
Just saying that sometimes speed isn’t always a factor.

so glad they will be OK, they must have been wearing their seatbelts because it looks like very hard impact, you are right dad we all need to drive lots of hours with our kids and overcorrection is the most comon mistake young drivers make. I talk about it a lot with mine and practice not over reacting with them, but their instincts tend to kick in.

Both Kids are very fortunate and ok and being released.Both of these kids can thank GOD. He alone is responsible for this positive outcome. The truck is replaceable but they are not. You can talk and tell a teenager all you want, but sometime experience will speak to them the best. I think drivers Ed teachers should be allowed to have field trips to the local dirt tracks and teach these kids how to responded and not over correct. This happened from soft sand pulling the wheel one way and inexperience over correcting. THANK YOU LORD for our blessing in the turmoil.

Sure have been a lot of 16 and 17yr olds in accidents lately.

Thank the Lord, they were not seriously injured. It looks like quite an impact.
